Training Options

On Ice Team Training Options
Choose from the 5 options listed below. 15-minute chalk talk precedes each team practice. All on-ice options are priced the same. (see attached price sheet)

Scoring Camp
1 hour of on ice training focused on improving each player’s ability to score goals. Learn the tendencies of great goal scorers and work on the skills that great scorers possess.

Overspeed Training and Cornering
1 hour of on ice training dedicated to high paced skating drills that will elevate each players skating ability. Overspeed Training is used to raise each player’s ability to corner at high speeds.

Stickhandling / Team Passing / Team Puck Control
1 hour of on ice training consisting of specialized puck possession drills. 20 minutes of Individual stickhandling drills, 20 minutes of team passing drills, 20 minutes of team puck possession drills. This camp is designed to improve your team’s puck possession time during games.

Team Systems
1 hour of on ice training dedicated to improving a specific team system. If your team needs help with Breakouts, Forecheck, Neutral Zone Play or D-Zone Coverage, we can help!

Team Choice
1 hour of on ice instruction of your choice. Consult with Breakaway Hockey to come up with a practice that fits your team’s needs. Some possibilities are: Competition drills, Power Play and Penalty Kill, Small Area Games, Odd-Man Rushes, and more. Recommended: On Ice Sessions should be done in conjunction with Acceleration Dryland Training. Dryland training may be done before or after on-ice sessions or on a separate day.

Off ice Team Training Options: 1 hour sessions accommodate up to 12 players and include 2 of the following activities. 1.5 hour sessions accommodate up to 18 players and include 3 of the following. Plyometrics and strength training will be combined on request.

Skating Treadmill – Up to 6 players will spend 30 minutes with an Acceleration trainer to develop ideal skating mechanics that emphasize power, efficiency and speed. For advanced players, skating bouts will replicate the intensity and fatigue levels achieved in game situations in order to develop the skater’s aerobic and anaerobic thresholds.

Plyometrics – Up to 6 players will spend 30 minutes with an Acceleration trainer performing multi-directional floor drills to increase their boundaries of movement, body control and foot speed. This station will include Hockey specific lower body and core strengthening exercises to ensure maximum leg power and control.

Strength Training – Up to 6 players will spend 30 minutes with an Acceleration trainer developing upper body and lower body functional strength. Exercises will be tailored to the age, strength and specific needs of each group.

Puckhandling/Shooting – Up to 6 players will complete drills to work on hand responsibility, hand speed and functional range of motion and improve passing and shooting.
